Experienced Reporter

The Antelope Valley Press, a national award-winning daily in Los Angeles County's fastest growing area, seeks a reporter who can do it all, preferably with at least 3 years daily experience. The successful prospect can report a bone-chilling trial, digest a complex government report, enterprise a compelling enterprise feature, and develop stories about a lively city hall scene, and keep track of popular culture trends, ideally for the next day's edition. Sports Editor

Opportunity to Make your Mark

The Sports Editor we seek will be a dynamic professional who understands that local and prep are key to a vital community sports section that delivers in a suburb of Los Angeles, one of the nation's largest sports markets. Our Sports Editor will be a planner who can communicate a vision and inspire.  You will lead a talented young staff of reporters.  Successful candidate will have an eye for design and a grasp of a diverse report that includes community and youth sports. Classified Advertising Inside and Outside Sales

The Antelope Valley Press is looking for creative, outgoing, self-motivated sales professionals with strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to help clients place their ads in our newspaper.  The successful candidates will be detail-oriented team players with excellent relationship building and communication skills with the ability to work well under deadline pressure.  Sales experience required; advertising or newspaper experience a plus.  Salary plus commission plus excellent benefit package.

 

Retail Advertising Inside/Outside Sales

The Antelope Valley Press is looking for a sales professional to fill a full-time inside and outside sales position in retail advertising.  Must be a detail oriented team player with excellent relationship building and communication skills with the ability to work well under deadline pressure.  Requirements include high school diploma, basic math and computer skills.  Sales experience required.  Advertising or newspaper experience a plus.  Salary plus commission plus excellent benefit package.

 

Advertising Sales Assistant

The Antelope Valley Press is seeking an energetic, customer-oriented individual to assist the Classified, Retail, Major and National advertising Account Executives as well as the Advertising Directors for both departments. This candidate will assist with office workflow, compile statistical data, and assist with overall office operations. Responsibilities of this full-time position include, but are not limited to, providing assistance to advertisers, assisting customers, and returning calls. Requirements include:  

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of general office experience.
  • Customer Service experience.
  • Business, marketing or sales background a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Excel.
  • Good verbal, written, and basic math skills.
  • Good phone etiquette.
  • Strong attention to detail

 

- CIRCULATION - 


Circulation Utility

This is a part-time position at our main Palmdale facility with early morning hours.  The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:  counting and lifting bundles, loading vehicles, driving cube truck to satellite drop offs, cleaning dock, sorting and distributing proper paperwork.

Requirements include:

  • Basic math and record keeping skills
  • Positive attitude and good people skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to lift at least 60 lbs. repetitively
  • Valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance required.
  • Clean DMV record - three year DMV printout must be presented with application/resume.

 

Newsstand Service Route

Part-time position working early morning hours distributing newspapers to rack locations and dealer accounts.  Shift starts at 12 midnight and ends at 5 a.m.

Requirements include:

  • Completing and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. repetitively
  • Valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance required.
  • Clean DMV record - three year DMV printout must be presented with application/resume.


- MARKETING -

Graphic Designer

The Antelope Valley Press is seeking a creative self-motivated team player with a minimum 3 years work-related experience.  AA degree in Graphic Design preferred.  Must be adept at multi-tasking and be deadline driven.  Individual should enjoy working in a collaborative and creative environment and at a fast pace. You will work on a variety of projects from brochures, logo design, page layout and ad design. - OPERATIONS -

 Machine Operator

The Antelope Valley Press has a full-time position in our Distribution Department.  The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up insert equipment, monitoring, troubleshooting and repairing hoppers and downstream equipment, and maintaining insert equipment.  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, training and monitoring insert crew for a safe and efficient insert operation; conducting preventative maintenance checks before, during, and after runs; and record and communicate equipment conditions.  Salary range is negotiable depending on experience.  Requirements include:  High School Diploma or GED; Basic math, reading, and communication skills; Current Driver License and proof of current auto insurance required; Mechanical experience a must; Ability to bend, stand, walk, and lift at least 50 lbs.
