Borgardt, Nina
BORGARDT, Nina Mar. 10, 1924 - Oct. 30, 2016 Born March 10, 1924 in Rostov, Russia to Andrey Tokrez and Anfissa Britzina, Nina passed away peacefully on October 30, 2016 in Lancaster, Calif. During World War II, when Germany invaded Rostov, Nina was taken to Germany as a prisoner of war where she worked on the farm of a German Officer. After the war, Nina stayed in Germany, working for the Red Cross and in 1948, she met and married Mel Borgardt, an American soldier stationed in Germany. They were married for almost 65 years until Mels death in 2013. Mel and Nina settled in Portland, Oregon where they had two sons, Mike and Steve. In 1959, they moved to Lancaster and except for returning to Portland for 15 years, lived in Lancaster until their deaths. Nina became a U.S. citizen in 1965, one of her proudest moments. Nina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be sorely missed by her family and all who knew her. Preceded in death by husband Mel Borgardt, Nina is survived by sons: Michael (Cathy) Borgardt, Steve (Sandy) Borgardt; grandchildren: Jon (Rinat) Borgardt, Courtney (Matt) Glazner, Nick (Taryn) Borgardt, Brandon (Ashley) Borgardt, and Lindsey (Eugene) Ladyzhenskiy; great-grandchildren: Caden, Reese, Jocelyn, Parker, Taylor, Ryan, Ethan, Maya and Noa. The family will have a private Memorial at a later date in San Diego to celebrate Ninas life.
