BECKMAN, Charles
BECKMAN, Charles Willard was born in Goodland, Kan., April 27, 1941, to Raymond and Edith Boeger Beckman. He grew up in Hoxie, Kan. He passed away July 26, 2016, at St. Clare's Hospital in Lakewood, Wash. He received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1964 from the University of Kan. He came to the Air Force Rocket Propulsion Laboratory at Edwards Air Force Base in 1966 where he worked on propellant development for ballistic and space launch systems, including Minuteman and MX, as well as all Air Force air-to-air and air-to-ground missile systems. He retiredin 2000. He enjoyed investing and winemaking. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon, his children Charla Johnson and husband Steve of Tacoma, Wash., Carol Beckman and husband Mike Jarvis of Swarthmore, Pa., Dan Beckman and wife Kathleen of Tustin, Calif., his grandchildren William, Olivia, and Eleanor Johnson, Colin, Quinn, and Rhys Jarvis, and Alek Beckman, and his sisters Cathleen Brock and Marie Mitchell of Tempe, Ariz. Visitation will be held Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals Cremations, Lancaster from 4 to 7 pm Sunday, August 7, with a vigil service at 7 pm. A Mass of Resurrection will be held August 8, at 10:00 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, memorial donations may be made in Charles name to Sacred Heart Building Fund or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
