ABELE, Stephen Conrad
ABELE, Stephen Conrad Today it is with a heavy heart, that we say goodbye to Heaven's newest angel. No more pain and suffering for you Steve. In time our hearts too will mend with all the wonderful memories you left behind. You will be forever missed, but always remembered. Stephen age 67, was born January 14, 1947 in Fort Benning, Georgia. He passed away June 30, 2014 in Lancaster, California. Growing up as a 'military brat', he lived by the adage, 'Home is where you hang your hat'. His home for the past 37 years was the Antelope Valley. Steve was a proud USMC Vietnam Veteran, serving in the 1st Marine Air Wing, HMM-161. Following his military service he attended and graduated from San Diego State University becoming a Special Education Teacher with Muroc Joint Unified School District in 1977. He taught in all the Edwards AFB Schools during his tenure with the district, retiring after 33 years, in 2009. Steve was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association, USMC Combat Helicopter Association, and was an Endowment Member of the NRA. His interests included World War II Aviation History, Genealogy, target shooting, traveling, and watching the University of Alabama play football. 'Roll Tide'! His wife of 32 years, Norma, son Nathan Abele and wife Carla, daughter Shannon Cowan and husband Rob, and his father John Abele survive Steve. Steve's most precious survivors are his three granddaughters, Chloe and Isabella Cowan, and Aria Abele. And lastly, his beloved English Mastiff, CH Thunder Sky's Kodiak Gold, 'Kodi'. A Celebration of Life will be held for him at 2pm, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals and Cremations , Lancaster, California. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project . Semper Fi
