ZEITZ, Joseph John
ZEITZ, Joseph John Joseph was born December 8, 1920 in Portage Wisconsin, to Clement and Estelle Zeitz and died June 1, 2014 in Missoula, Montana at the age of 93. Joe served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was reactivated for the Korean Conflict achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, American Service Medal, and the Asian Pacific Theater Service Medal. Following the war, he accepted a job for the Air Force at Edwards AFB as an electrical technician. He worked there for 40 years supporting multiple flight research programs until his retirement from Civil Service on January 2, 1987. He was married to Cecilia D. Smith in Wisconsin in 1947 and they resided in Lancaster where they raised their five children, Carole, John, Joanne, Susan, and James. Joseph. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, the Elks, and the Sacred Heart Parish, and an active supporter for the sports programs at Paraclete High School which his children attended. He is survived by his 5 children; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog Buster. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Springs in Missoula, Montana, his last residence of 8 years, from 10:30-12:30 am, Saturday, June 7, 2014. His final interment will be at a later date in the Missoula Veterans National Cemetery.
