SHIBLEY, Marcella Irene Norris
SHIBLEY, Marcella Irene Norris Born January 12, 1916, in Crocketts Bluff, Ark. Passed May 15, 2014, of natural causes, in Lancaster, Calif. Marcella reached the milestone age of 98. She died just weeks after her husband, Daryl Shibley, who passed away April 7, 2014. They had been married 74 years. Rarely had they been apart, and now they will rest together forever. Marcella suffered from dementia in her last years of life, and Daryl cared for her. Marcella had spent a lifetime caring for others, and it was fitting that her family be able to return that care in the end. She was a selfless, compassionate and loving person, who put others' needs above her own. Marcella was a devout member of Jehovah's Witnesses, where she had many friends. She believed deeply in God, and she lived her belief. Her quiet fortitude was a tribute to her deep belief, and an example of true faith. She possessed a wisdom that represented a simple, straight-forward and heartfelt warmth. Marcella was always there for her family. She kept her family together by gathering them around her dinner table. No one could cook like Grandma. She was the best mother and the best mother-in-law. She is deeply loved, and will be missed by her surviving children, Sue Nell Shibley Palm (David), Joetta Shibley Wade (Tom, deceased), Elouise Shibley Connell, James Shibley (Eileen), and Bruce Shibley. She is survived by 14 grandchildren, all of whom have memories of being swept up in Grandma's embrace and smothered with kisses; 22 great-grandchildren (two yet to be born), and four great-great-grandchildren. Marcella was always cheerful, always optimistic, and always grateful. Her daughter once saw a sign that reminded her of her mother: 'Things turn out best for those who make the best of the way things turn out.' Mom made the best of everything, for all of us. Services will be held at 1 pm, Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall, 1034 West Avenue L, Lancaster, CA.
