HAMMETT, Charles Lee
HAMMETT, Charles Lee Jan. 31, 1927 ~ Nov. 16, 2013 Chuck was born in Ferriday, Louisiana and grew up on a farm with his family. After graduating High School and a stint in the Navy, he attended Louisiana State University attaining a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He moved to San Diego where he worked for Convair. While in San Diego he attended Arthur Murray dance classes where he met the love of his life, Rilla, they were married on December 19, 1954. They moved to the Antelope Valley for work and started a family. Chuck worked for Jet Propulsion Laboratory at Edwards Air Force Base for 30+ years. He was a loving husband and instructive father; quiet, hard working, teaching by example, he enriched the lives of those with whom he came in contact. He attended and was active at Valley Bible Church and participated in Bible study groups. He is survived by his wife, Rilla, three sons, Scott, Rusty and Jeff; a sister, Gayle; a brother, ODare; 8 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Services will be held at 1 pm, Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 at the Valley Bible Church.
