LOPEZ, Magdalena Maggie
LOPEZ, Magdalena "Maggie" A resident of the Antelope Valley for 59 years, passed away May 4, 2013, at the age of 85. She was born August 27, 1927, in San Antonio, Texas. Maggie married Fernando S. Lopez in San Antonio, and in 1954, they moved to Palmdale, Calif., where Fernando worked as an Aircraft Electrician at Edwards Air Force Base. In 1961, responding to compliments on her wonderful cooking, she and her husband established Fernando's Mexican Restaurant in Palmdale, and later relocated it to Lancaster where it served the community until 1972. Maggie then began a long and happy career as an Employment Program Representative for the Employment Development Department in Lancaster, retiring in 1996. Maggie loved her family and her home. She also loved to dance, and we know she's dancing in heaven. She was preceded in death by parents Maria Delgado and Vicente Toboada Rocha, brothers Vicente, Jr. and Rudy Rocha, sisters Mary Rocha Muzkiz and Zulema Rocha DeWalt, and her loving daughter Lydia Lourdes Decker. She is survived by two sons, Fernando of Folsom, Calif., and Vincent of Los Angeles, Calif., and three daughters, Elizabeth Hyam (Arnold) of Las Vegas, Nev., Christine Irion (Roger) of Arroyo Grande, Calif., and Maggie Lopez of Citrus Heights, Calif. She also leaves nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Halley Olsen Murphy, 44802 N. Date in Lancaster, with Holy Rosary from 7 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 17, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 565 W. Kettering in Lancaster. Interment will follow at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 2200 E. Avenue S in Palmdale. www.homlancaster.com
