SEAL, Vivian A.
SEAL, Vivian A. Born June 28, 1947, in Tucson, Arizona. Passed away April 22, 2013, in Lancaster, Calif. She grew up in Tucson, Ariz., and graduated from Tucson High School in 1965. She has lived in the Antelope Valley for 25 years. A retired 24 year veteran elementary school teacher of the Eastside and Keppel School Districts, she specialized in helping first graders to learn to read and write. Her bilingual Spanish-English skills, coupled with her patient, methodical and loving approach educated thousands of beginning students, from a wide variety of backgrounds, by giving them the word and language skills they needed to function in our world. After retiring two years ago, she continued teaching voluntarily, on a part time basis, in daughter Margrets class room in Palmdales Yucca Elementary School. She was a 1975, graduate of the University of Arizona, she attended the Chapman College education graduate program. Vivian was an avid reader, played the piano and violin, enjoyed listening to a wide variety of music from rock and roll to classical. She was a long time live theater and movie fan and loved dancing, having danced in high school. She is survived by her husband and life-long partner of 45 years, Claud, son Eric, daughter Margret Seal, daughter Sara (Art Grasso), son Nathan (Tiffany Seal), brother Dr. Robert Shoumaker (Kaye) of San Antonio, Texas, and Terry Shoumaker, sister-in-law, in Paradise Valley, Arizona. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Lancaster United Methodist Church, 918 W. Avenue J , Lancaster. Private burial at sea will be conducted at future date. The family requests that since Vivian was a long time lover of animals, especially homeless and strays, all monetary donations (no flowers please) should be given in Vivians memory to the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control, 5210 West Avenue I, Lancaster, 93536.
