MIRABAL, Mary P. (Gusman)
MIRABAL, Mary P. (Gusman) Born May 4, 1927, in Courtland, Ariz. Passed away Jan. 28, 2013, at AV Hospital. She worked for Los Angeles County at Mira Loma Hospital while it was a all Male Tuberculosis Hospital, starting in 1963, retiring in 1986. In 1968, the hospital changed from Tuberculosis to a County Hospital. She worked her way up from a nurses aide to the physical therapy department, she went to Rancho Los Amigos Hospital for training. A position opened in the the Warehouse where she received the highest score, but being a woman they didnt want her, she fought and got the position where she stayed until retirement. She was also the first paid translator at Mira Loma. Survived by her husband George Mirabal, six children, Carole, David, George, Kathy, Mona and Vince, 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by two grandsons Todd Garton, Andrew Garton, and two great-granddaugters Alyssa Nelson and Lindsay Faith Garton. Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster.
