DOUGHERTY, Daisy Margaret Was born April 11, 1919, to George and Etta Grizzell on a farm near Odessa, Missouri. As a young adult she moved to Springfield, Missouri and married Herbert Brock in 1941. Two sons were born to that union. In 1999, she married Leon Dougherty who preceded her in death in 2008. Daisy is survived by her sons Gary Lynn and Richard Gene of Springfield; two step-daughters, Janet of Mojave, California, and Beverly of Virginia; and one step-son, Harold of Virginia. She has three grandchildren and 14 step-grandchildren who survive her. Daisy spent most of her life in California, and with a few sojourns to the Midwest, always returned to California and the desert which she loved. She enjoyed writing, was renowned for her handwriting, and was a published poet. When she could no longer attend church she would write notes, by hand, to members expressing her concern for them. During most of her adult years love for 'her church' was a central focus in her life. One of the last things she said expressed her love for her church family in Rosamond. Viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, September 3, 2012, at Joshua Memorial Park in Lancaster. A memorial service celebrating Mrs. Dougherty's life will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at the Rosamond Church of Christ. Burial will be in Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster. www.joshuamortuary.com
