HJELM, Alan Leon
HJELM, Alan Leon Born August 20, 1934, in Pomona, Calif. Passed into the Lords Hands on April 17, 2012, in Lancaster, Calif. Alan attended Webb High School and graduated from CSUN. Alan was a long time Antelope Valley resident, taught school for 30 years and retired from Cole Middle School. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Master for over 40 years and served as Choir Director and President of the Church Council. Alan loved his family, music, fishing, reading, gardening , and being on his computer. He was an avid collector of Snoopy and Star Trek. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kay Shryock Hjelm, sister, Roberta Hjelm Bloom, daughters, Lisa Smith (Kevin), Lynn Corzine (Blayne), grandchildren, Tyler Henderson (Jess), Beth Gorman (Phillip), Taylor Corzine, Chandler Corzine, great-grandchildren, Meridoc and Bella Henderson, Nathan and Natalie Gorman , nieces, Andrea Boynoff Bloom, Melanie Suter (Chuck), sister-in-law, Elda Jennings Shryock, many loved Bloom and Jennings nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Evelyn and Carl Hjelm, brother-in-laws, Duke Bloom, and Doc Shryock. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Lutheran Church of the Master, 725 E. Ave J, Lancaster, Calif. Contributions can be made to the Lutheran Church of the Master.
