BIRDSALL, George A. Born Dec. 5, 1929, in Upland, Calif., passed away April 16, 2012, at home in Lancaster Calif. George grew up in Upland, where he attended Chaffey High School and Chaffey College, joined the Navy, and proudly served in the Korean Conflict. George had a long and very successful career as an Avionics Engineer and Manager at Lockheed California Company as part of the 'Skunk Works'. He contributed to the success of many Skunk Works aircraft, including the U-2 (his favorite), SR-71, and F-117. He was a wonderful husband and father, coaching football and baseball teams, teaching his sons to ride dirt bikes, work on cars, fix almost anything, and be good people. George moved to the Antelope Valley in 1986, and retired from Lockheed in 1987 to pursue his passion for golf. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ailene and Allan Birdsall, and his first wife, Chadean. He is survived by his wife Doris (and her family); sons Chris (Joyce), of Yoder Colo. and Greg (Candi), of Palmdale Calif.; and grandchildren Brittanie and Garrett. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 3 p.m. at the Mumaw Funeral Home in Lancaster Calif.
