McKEE, AMOS III
McKEE, Amos III Born April 27, 1936, in Lawrenceburg, Ky. Passed away January 8, 2012, at home in Quartz Hill, Calif. He grew up and went to school in Lawrenceburg, Ky. He served in the U.S.A.F. from 1955 to 1967. He has lived in the Antelope Valley for 46 years, where he was a member of the American Legion Post 100, worked for Californai-Portland Cement Co. for 21 years. His hobbies of late were his family, listening to the birds chirp and watching the grass grow. His special accomplishments were being the best husband, father, and grandfather, a dedicated Christian and ordained deacon and a diligent studier of the Bible. Survived by his wife Thelma McKee, son Gregory M. McKee of Los Angeles, Calif., daughters Sherryl L. Washington of Palmdale, Calif., Lisa M. Williams of Quartz Hill, Calif., grandchildren Damein J. Kendrid of Quartz Hill, Calif., Don E. (Diana) Romain of Colton, Calif., Kristall S. Harris of Quartz Hill, Calif., Dominic J. Hampton of Palmdale, Calif., Amos William McKee of Germany, great-grandchildren; Devin and Atlanta Kendrid, of Quartz Hill, Calif., Crishon Landaverde and Mahlani Taylor of Quartz Hill, Calif., Donia and Nyla Romain of Colton, Calif., DeJon and Dominic Hampton Jr., of Ohio. Also survived by 3 sisters Joyce (Marvin) Harvey, Andrea Mudd, both of Kentucky, Denise McKee of Tennessee, sister-in-law Joyce Fountain of Lancaster, Calif., and brother-in-law George Barker III of Las Vegas, Nev. Preceded in death by his parents Amos Jr. and Gertie Alice Lowry-McKee, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2012, at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Growing Valley Baptist Church, 44818 N. 20th St. West, Lancaster, CA 93534. www.joshuamortuary.com
