CROFUTT, RUBY VELMA
CROFUTT, Ruby Velma April 11, 1924 ~ Nov. 15, 2011 Ruby was born in Ardmore, South Dakota to Lloyd and Sylvia Blessing. Raised in a family of seven children, Ruby was not afraid of hard work. Moving to Portland, Oregon, Ruby cut steel in the shipyards during World War II. Back in South Dakota, she continued her womans work in a mans world where she was a partner in a company that hauled sand, gravel and logs, driving a semi truck with the best of them. In 1963, Ruby moved to California to marry Wayne Crofutt. They were wed in Lamont, Calif., and have resided in Littlerock for the past 40 years. Ruby loved to cook, go to the gym, and traveling in their 5th wheel. Her kindness and compassion extended beyond her family as she tended to the needs of ailing friends. She adored children and animals. Ruby is survived by her husband, Wayne; 3 sons, Rodney, Rick, and Ron, all of South Dakota; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 sister, Edna of Oroville, Calif., and 1 brother, Perry, of Hot Springs, South Dakota. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Services beginning at 1 p.m., both at Halley-Olsen- Murphy, Palmdale, Calif.
