MEDLER, RUTH ANN
MEDLER, Ruth Ann It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ruth Ann Medler (Harris) on Oct. 18, 2011. Ruth Ann (Ruthie as the family called her) was born December 20, 1939, in Owensboro, Ky., the eldest of 4 children. Ruth lived in Kentucky with her parents Orville and Neva Harris and siblings until at age 12 they moved to California in 1951. Ruth attended Clovis High School in Fresno, Calif., and graduated in 1958. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang in the school choir. She met her future husband Paul Hayward Medler by way of her father who 'brought him home to dinner' one night from work. Paul and Ruth met in Fresno moving then to the Los Angeles area, they married in January 1960, and finally settled in Quartz Hill. Paul and Ruth were married over 51 years. Ruthie began working in retail until 1973, when she was hired at Rockwell International, Palmdale in Production Control. Advancing further to Management, she worked as Manager of Logistics at Edwards Air Force Base with Boeing Aerospace. Ruth retired in 2007. Her grandson and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Her home was scattered with pictures of all her precious family to brag about. She loved to shop for her grandchildren and bought more things than they could ever use. Gardening in the hot summer months with her husband Paul brought her much joy. Indeed, she worked in her garden up to her last days. At family gatherings Ruth would bring food to feed an army. Ruth gave without hesitation to all her family. Upon Ruthies passing she leaves behind her sweetheart and beloved husband Paul, their son Mark H. Medler and his wife Patty. Her grandson Blake H. Medler now serving in the U.S. Air Force in Honduras, his wife Sandra and two great-grandchildren (Hannah and Madison). Also Ruth leaves two sisters Sheila (Dan) Bendik and Jennifer (James) Halverstadt. She was preceded in death by both her parents, as well as her brother Jerry E. Harris (Diane) who passed in September of this year. Ruth leaves behind extended family members throughout California, Washington State and Kentucky. Everything is changed forever when someone with so much love to give passes on... Ruth will be remembered as a good and loving woman. Her contributions to all cannot be measured. There will be a viewing at 12 noon Monday, Oct. 24, 2011, Graveside services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, both at Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster.
