SWENSON, IRENE
SWENSON, Irene Irene Swenson loved Lancaster. She was born August 9, 1919, in San Jose, Calif., and passed away on June 30, 2011, in the home of her daughter in Petaluma, Calif. She spent most of her life in Lancaster. Irene graduated from Antelope Valley High School and attended Antelope Valley Community College and USC. She worked in Japan during the Reconstruction, where she met her husband, Arlynn. She was a homemaker, and also worked for many years in the AVCC Library and the Audio Visual Department. Irene volunteered at many organizations including: the AV Allied Arts Association, the American Field Service, the Assistance League Heartline, and the AV Indian Museum. She enjoyed traveling, card games around the kitchen table, and a good laugh. Irene will be dearly missed by her family: brother Tom, children Karen and Kurt, grandchildren Ryan, Kyle, Emily, Marissa, and Rachel, great- grandchildren Max and Oliver. She was also a beloved aunt and great- aunt. Her husband of 53 years, Arlynn, passed away in 2001. Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 502 West Ave. K, in Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Pauls.
