ARCURI, DOMINICK FRANK
ARCURI, Dominick Frank Born on August 31, 1924, in Los Angeles, California. Passed away on May 28, 2011, in Lancaster, California, to be with the Lord. Dominick grew up in El Sereno, California, and was the son of Italian immigrants who came to this wonderful country and worked so hard for their son to have the American dream. An avid athlete, Dominick attended UCLA on a full-ride football scholarship playing tight end for the Bruins. Not to be outdone, Dominick earned the top title of the Golden Gloves in boxing. Dominick served in the Unites States Navy during World War II and was intensely proud of this country. Dominick went on to become a passionate teacher in history, math and physical education in the Los Angeles Unified School District where his unique teaching practices cultivated many life-long friendships with his students. In 1952, Dominick purchased a ranch on the West side of the Antelope Valley due to his intense love of hunting, farming, and the outdoors. Dominick and his family permanently moved to the Antelope Valley in 1972.Dominick was married for 54 years and is survived by his beautiful wife Fidela Arcuri, their six daughters, Giovanna (Joann) Galeazzi, Gina Rolow, Anna Terra, Gloria Arcuri, Dr. Raimonda Arcuri-Gelfound, and Andrea Galeazzi. Dominick will also be missed by his 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, which he loved very much.A viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Halley-Olsen- Murphy Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Rosary with follow at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Graveside services will follow at the Good Shepard Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
