ARTERBURY, Thomas Donald of Lancaster, Calif., died Sunday October 17, 2010, after a short fight against congestive heart failure. His wife, Ida of 48 years was by his side when he passed away peacefully. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 31, 1930, as the second son to Martha and Elmer Arterbury. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1947, and served 20 years, retiring in Whiting Field, Florida. After retirement from the U.S. Navy, he worked at McDonnell Douglas and retired after 25 years. He enjoyed airplanes, ships, sharing old stories of his younger days, camping, and traveling. He is survived by his wife Ida J. Arterbury, three daughters, Debi L. Pomrenke, Bobbi S. Von Fange both of San Diego, Calif., JoAnn Arterbury of Lancaster, Calif., and one son, Thomas D. Gill of Great Mills, Md. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ashley Gill, Brittany Gill, Greg Miller, Michelle Dyson, Michael Rosenfeld, David Rosenfeld, and Shannon Rosenfeld Ortleb as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by his two daughters, Diana D. Rosenfeld and Denise L. Carron. Memorial Services are pending family decision. He will be cremated with his ashes scattered in the Pacific Ocean off Point Loma, Calif.
