NEUFELD, LISA MARIE
NEUFELD, Lisa Marie July 30, 1966 ~ March 22, 2010 Lisa Marie Thompson was born Saturday, July 30, 1966, in Burke, S.D. to Donald and Sharon Thompson. She was baptized on Oct. 23, 1966, lived a wonderful life, and died March 22, 2010, in Tehachapi of a rare brain disease known as Creutzfeldt-Jakob's Disease (CJD). She was 43 years old. When Lisa was very young, the family moved to Schleswig, Iowa where Lisa attended school, graduating high school in 1984. After her education, she lived in Florida for a time before moving to California where she worked at the NASA Dryden Flight Test Center. She met and married David Neufeld on Nov. 5, 1994. Together they raised two wonderful sons and Lisa devoted her life to them, helping out in their classrooms at school, volunteering for various community projects and attending every function she could, while still selling Tastefully Simple products as her home business. She was always so full of energy and enthusiasm with everything she did and she will be greatly missed. Lisa is preceded in death by her mother, Sharon Thompson and grandparents Kermit Thompson, and Marion and Berniece Hotter. Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband David, and sons Ian and Jacob of Tehachapi; her father and stepmother, Don and Rose Thompson of Dunlap, Iowa; two brothers, Jeff (wife Nancy) of Hampshire, Ill., and Bryan (wife, Myra) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters Donna (husband David) Krier of Hartford, S.D., and Deb (husband Troy) Gehlsen of Denison, Iowa; grandmother Agnes Thompson of Elk Point, S.D.; one step-sister, Suzanne (husband, Jeff) Buffington of Ankeny, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, and many special friends, including Kirk Davenport of Tehachapi, and April Remnant of Ventura. Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Country Oaks Baptist Church in Tehachapi. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa, next to her mother. Donations may be made to the CJD Foundation in memory of Lisa Neufeld and/or Sharon Thompson, or charitable donations may be made to UCSF Memory and Aging Center in remembrance of Lisa Neufeld.
