BARTH, RAYMOND HENRY
BARTH, Raymond Henry 91, died March 5, 2010, at his home of natural causes. Raymond was born June 20, 1918, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Theobald and Anne Barth. The family moved to New York while he was in grade school. He graduated from high school and attended Columbia School of Music while working for National Broadcast Systems. In 1938, he went to work for Roger Petes clothiers. After 2 years of clothing sales he enrolled in aircraft mechanics school. While in school he married Ethel Burget and their daughter Barbara was born a year later. After graduation he moved to Rome, New York to work on planes to support the war effort. When the war ended he went to work for Pan American Airlines. In 1955, the family moved to Palmdale and Ray began working for Rockwell Aircraft, their son Paul was born in 1958. In 1979, he retired from General Electric after 20 years of service. A practicing Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus and Elks, Raymond was selfless in contributing time and effort to their many charity events. He loved bowling and playing card games. He was an avid singer seldom missing the chance to serenade friends and family. In his spare time he liked to watch baseball and was a lifelong Giants fan. Mr. Barth is survived by his children, Barbara MacDonald and Paul Barth; daughter-in-law, Cindy Barth, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Chapel of the Valley Mortuary. Mass will be at held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at St Marys Catholic Church, 1600 East Avenue R-4, with the burial at Desert Lawn Memorial Park after the service.
