WILLIAMS, MOTOKO JUDY
WILLIAMS, Motoko 'Judy' Born January 3, 1927, in Osaka, Japan. Passed away February 25, 2010, in Lancaster, Calif., at AV Hospital. She grew up in Osaka, Japan where she attended school. She has lived in Mojave for 49 years. Our Ma lived her life well and on her own terms. She was happiest caring for her family and gardening in her yard. She was a loving and loyal wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She met Thomas, her husband of 59 years, at a dance following World War II while he was stationed in Japan. 'He was the tallest guy in the room,' she said. Their courtship endured an initial language barrier, family concerns, and months of paperwork until finally they were married in a military civil ceremony. In 1952, they returned to the States with their daughter and resided in Arkansas for several years where they added two sons to their family. When her children began bringing their readers home from school Ma would listen and learn, eventually teaching herself to read, write and speak fluent English. In 1961, the family moved to California where she resided until her death. We are very blessed to have had such a wonderful woman as our mother, grandmother and friend. Survived by her sons Thomas Williams Jr. (Kathy) of Ridgecrest, Calif., Eddie Williams (RuthAnn) of Lancaster, Calif., daughter Louise Gibbons of Bakersfield, Calif., grandchildren Andrea and Dan Armogida, Kourtney Williams, Haylee Williams, Whitney Williams, Nicole and Robby Acosta, Marissa and Kenny Chance, Agatha, John Gibbons Jr., and Peter Gibbons, and 11 great-grandchildren. Also survived by 1 brother Hiroyuki and 1 sister Kazuko. Preceded in death by her husband Thomas Williams in 2007, parents Torahachi and Kuniko Izumi, brothers Mitsonobu, Kiyoshi and Kuniichi, grandparents Kozo and Mino Ishihara, Kinzo and Haru Izumi. Private family services will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster. www.joshuamortuary.com
